Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers about CMS Amigo’s editor, plans, publishing, and security.

General

What is CMS Amigo?
CMS Amigo is a lightweight, visual HTML editor and template system that lets you edit pages in your browser and ship clean, fast HTML/CSS to any host.
Who is CMS Amigo for?
Solo creators, agencies, and SMBs who want a fast, no-bloat editing workflow for static sites or simple PHP sites—without migrating to a heavy CMS.
Will it work with my existing website?
Yes. If you can access your site’s HTML files, you can use CMS Amigo. Edit locally and upload, or (on paid plans) publish via FTP/SFTP to your host.
Which browsers are supported?
The latest versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari. We recommend keeping your browser updated for best results.
Does CMS Amigo affect Core Web Vitals?
No. CMS Amigo outputs clean HTML/CSS and respects your performance setup (preloads, async scripts, image formats). Your site’s CWV depends on your assets and hosting, not the editor.

Plans & Billing

What’s the difference between Demo, Starter, Pro, and Agency?
  • Demo: Try core editor features, sample templates, no sign-up.
  • Starter: Adds image manager/uploads, basic template pack, email support.
  • Pro: Adds FTP/SFTP publishing, advanced components, priority support.
  • Agency: Adds multi-client workspaces, roles/permissions, white-label options.
See pricing for details.
Can I switch plans or cancel anytime?
Yes. You can upgrade/downgrade between paid tiers and cancel before the next billing cycle.
Is there a free trial?
We don’t offer a traditional trial—the Demo plan lets you explore the editor instantly.
Do you offer refunds?
Refunds are evaluated case-by-case for new subscriptions. Contact support with your order details.
What counts as “storage” in CMS Amigo?
The app itself, your templates, and any assets you upload through the editor. Your live website files remain on your hosting. (Agency plans may add per-client storage allocations.)

Editor & Publishing

How do I publish my changes?
  • Demo/Starter: Export/download files and upload via your host’s file manager or Git.
  • Pro/Agency: Use built-in FTP/SFTP publishing to push updates directly to your site.
Does CMS Amigo support SFTP?
Yes on Pro and Agency. Use SFTP whenever possible and a limited-scope deploy user for safety.
Can I edit pages that weren’t built with CMS Amigo?
Yes. If the HTML is standards-compliant, you can load, edit, and publish it like any other page.
Is there version history or backups?
You can keep local copies via exports. For server-side backups, use your host’s snapshots or Git. Agency plans are designed to play nicely with Git-based workflows.
How do images and uploads work?
Use the image manager to insert, replace, and compress images. For best CWV, upload right-sized assets and modern formats (e.g., WebP) and set proper width/height.

Templates & Assets

Can I add my own templates?
Absolutely. Import your HTML/CSS, or start from our template packs and customize to match your brand.
Are template licenses commercial-friendly?
Yes—templates we provide are licensed for use on your own sites and client projects. Third-party templates must respect their original license.
Do you include icon sets or web fonts?
We keep bundles lean. You can link your preferred icon set (e.g., Lucide, Font Awesome) and self-host fonts for performance.

Accounts & Security

How are my publishing credentials handled?
Use deploy-only credentials (SFTP) with limited permissions. Never share your main hosting login. Rotate passwords regularly and use 2FA where available.
Do you support roles and permissions?
Agency plans include multi-client workspaces and team roles so designers, editors, and approvers have the right level of access.
Who owns my content and code?
You do—your HTML, CSS, and assets remain yours. CMS Amigo is the tool you use to build and ship them.

Support & Roadmap

What support do I get with each plan?
Starter includes email support; Pro adds priority support; Agency includes priority + onboarding guidance.
Do you offer custom template or setup services?
Yes—agencies can request white-label templates, and we can assist with initial site setup as a scoped service.
What’s on the roadmap?
Quality-of-life improvements for publishing, richer template packs, and expanded agency tools. If you have a must-have, tell us!

Technical & Hosting

Do I need special hosting?
No. Any standard host works. For best speed, enable HTTPS, HTTP/2 or HTTP/3, caching, and compression (Brotli/Gzip).
Does CMS Amigo require PHP?
The editor runs in the browser. PHP is only needed if you integrate optional server-side features (e.g., image uploads endpoint) on your host.
Can I use Git with CMS Amigo?
Yes—treat exported files as your source, commit to Git, and deploy with your preferred pipeline. Agency workflows typically pair nicely with Git.
Does CMS Amigo work with Cloudflare?
Yes. After publishing, purge the cache for updated paths to ensure visitors see the latest version.
